Letter from our Dean
Dear Maple Village Community,

I wanted to inform you about a remarkable opportunity to hear Jack Petrash speak in our area. When people ask which book they should read to know more about Waldorf Education, I often refer them to Understanding Waldorf Education: Teacher from the Inside Out by Jack Petrash. I was delighted to find out he is speaking at two local Waldorf Schools, and they both invited our community to join! The lectures are free, open to the public, and adult-only.

He will be speaking at the Waldorf School of Orange County this coming Wednesday, October 11 and at Pasadena Waldorf School on Saturday the 14th.

I highly encourage you to attend one of these lectures, which are both about current research and how Waldorf Education is preparing our children for the future.

You can view his Tedx Talk here:

It helps WSOC to know how many are attending, so please RSVP to Waldorf School of Orange County at ahamilton@waldorfschool.com
No need to RSVP to PWS.

I’ll see you there!
Warmly,
Lisa

30-Second Diversity Survey

Dear families,

Thank you to those of you who have already responded to our 30-second Diversity Survey.

We still need more than half of you to click the button and complete it, as we are seeking 100% participation to ensure we have correct statistics. We are proud to be one of the most diverse Waldorf Schools in our region. Please help us to maintain our records to reflect our beautiful community and to be able to share it with prospective families.

We are attaching the VERY quick demographic survey and would appreciate greatly if you could respond ASAP before it gets lost in your email! Click the button below to begin the survey.

We ask that you please participate for ENROLLED children only. Parent/Toddler children included. All responses are anonymous.

*Please note the answers are divided into MALE and FEMALE, so read the choices carefully!

Thank you so much,
Lisa
Seeking Two Parents for Morning Volunteers

Thank you so much to Carver Scott, Linda Galvan and Corinna Schnitt who are volunteering one day a week to sign in children at the entrance gate. Are you able to choose one day per week to help as well?

We are still looking for a parent who can sign in children on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:10 - 8:30.

Please let Alice or Lisa know if you are able. This is an easy way to earn volunteer credits!
Parent Village
HARVEST FAIRE VOLUNTEERS and WEEKLY HANDWORK DAY

Calling all volunteers!
We need your helping hands or your creative skills to make this year even more special than the last!

Hello Villagers,

We will have handwork Wednesdays in the Grove from 9:15-11:30am to make things for Harvest Faire. Please join!

I'd like to thank everyone who has volunteered so far. We are off to a great start! I'd like to ask that each parent volunteer for at least one 2 hour shift during the Faire as well as a set up shift on Friday or Saturday morning or a clean up shift on Saturday afternoon/evening. We will have the site until Sunday morning at 8 am so maybe we make it into a clean up sleepover???

I will be setting up a Shutterfly Share Sites for the Harvest Faire volunteers. We can keep track of meetings, shift etc. as well as share pics of the Faire (and set up)

VILLAGE:
What makes our Harvest Faire unique is our Village. We are going to put a lot of focus on the Village this year. Each station will be well thought out and pulled together and the gifts given will be of real quality. We will have a general script to help you get into your role as well as a dress rehearsal the week before. I encourage you to really take ownership of these roles. The kids will get so much more out of it!

I need one person from each Artisan Station to be a Representative for the cast members. This person will be the liaison between the cast and myself/Meghan/Serina. We will also have a Student Representative from the Evergreen class for each station. This year I will need all Station cast members to help plan and set up their station.

Farmer- activity will be peeling apples (and if we can get our hands on an apple press we can do that too!)

Miller- activity will be grinding wheat into flour.

Baker- roll the dough using their flour from the Miller and churning butter

Candle maker- activity will be dipping and making their own candle.

Inventor- This could be a REALLY FUN
station but it needs someone to help plan it.

Spinner- activity will be washing and carding wool roving and then spinning it into yarn.

Weaver- activity will be helping to weave on a oversized loom.

Wise Woman- activity tbd by Alicia

Wizard- activity tbd by Dan and Mr. Basil

I am also looking for BUILDERS and those that are handy to help Build the Village. Please contact me asap if interested. There are other areas of the Faire that need volunteers. I will focus on these in next weeks bulletin.

In Gratitude,

Kari Rahni
